Giving Appreciation Plaques As A Reward

When you own a company, or you are a supervisor over several people, you should consider appreciation plaques as a way of showing your respect for a job well done. There are many types of workers, and the ones who do a good job should be rewarded for that.

Praise is something that every manager and supervisor should be taught. Even if no praise was ever given to them, they should pass on this good practice, not the practice of non-appreciation that they had experienced.

When appreciation is shown, the worker feels good. He feels good enough to continue doing it, because he was recognized and acknowledged. It is a sign of respect on your part, and respect is contagious. He will respect you in return and continue to work harder. You may even need to buy more plaques. That will prove to be a good thing in the workplace. Your company and department will look great because of his good work.

There are seminars that teach that some sort of praise in the workplace is better than raises in salaries. Money will always be the thing that the worker will say they desire most. They really think that it is the most important thing and the reason that they work in the first place. And raises should, of course, be given at certain intervals. But the act of praising someone for doing the job right, doing it well, and being there to do it, lasts far longer than a percentage raise.

If a raise of twenty dollars a week is given, this is very much appreciated, you can be sure. But it is spent so easily, that it is gone almost as soon as it is received. The employee deserves this, he knows it, and he may spend it on a fancy dinner, or clothes, or other necessities that he has been holding off getting. Whatever it is spent on, it is gone, and he starts his next week without it, and this practice repeats itself. If they are given something they can hold onto, that lasts quite a while longer.

A certificate, a trophy, or a plaque should be given when it is deserved. If your employee never misses a day of work, this is a very special employee. If you compare him to others who have an excuse for being late or not showing up at all on more occasions that you care to remember, the one who shows up should be recognized.

And there are many other reasons for rewarding an employee with a special plaque. They are for those who have outdone the others in one way or another. And the plaque can be taken home and shown to the family with pride. Then, even the family members know that he is doing a great job. And whether it gets put into a drawer, or hung on the wall, he is reminded of how he is respected and recognized in the workplace, no matter what his job is.

A luncheon for everyone might also be a good idea. It will show the other employees that when you present appreciation plaques, they are for employees that care. And this could rub off on the others.
